The second match day of  I League 2013-14 sees United SC take on new boys Rangdajied FC. United SC has braved the battle off the pitch as their chief sponsor Prayag being in doldrums with financial controversy and despite best efforts from club owners United SC the most valuable team of last year is without a Chief sponsor and club is in some sort of financial crisis. But the silver lining has been the attitude of the players  towards the club as they stood by the club and star players like Ranty Martins,Bello Rasaq,Lalkamal Bhowmik,Deepak Mondal are ready to take on to the field without any financial advances.

However after a lacklustre couple of games in Calcutta League,Elcho Schattories boys will look for a improved performance against Rangdajied on home turf. The team has to leave behind it's struggle as limited pre season and compromised squad selection seems to be a worrying factor for the boys in purple.United SC will have to heavily rely on Ranty Martins while Eric Brown will play behind him as a withdrawal forward and feeding him with openings in the attacking third. Lalkamal Bhowmik and Jayanta Sen should marshal the central midfield and Tapan Maity and Vinneet will be in charge of both flanks.

The team desperately needs to fill the boots of Gourmangi Singh and new stopper duo of Anupam Sarkar and Belo has left lots to desire with as witnessed in their last Calcutta League game.

On the other hand Rangdajied United under coach Santosh Kasyap had a few tricky signings in form of Eugeneson Lyngdoh from Shillong Lajong,Lamine Tamba from Churchill and former Pune striker Edmar. They also have signed Japanese winger Iwasaki to support Edmar upfront.Santosh Kashyap who had a brief stint in Kolkata would be aware of his opponents and would predominately use long balls to reach out to his forward line and a compact 4-4-2 formation to catch his opponents on the break.

Tactical Note:
Both team will be cautious in early stages while United SC would fancy their chances on home turf with mercurial Ranty Martins and Eric Brown  should combine well and create chances. With good services of passes from midfield duo of Lal and C.K.Vineeth. United will look to take any chances that come their way.In case they manage any early goal they need to go for more and not sit easy on one goal lead as their defence line is still not well weaved and untested. All in all a counter attack based game with open mid field play is expected tomorrow as we keep you updated for more.

Post Match Score & Analysis:
The match was between United SC and Rangadajaeid Utd. displayed brilliant tactical planning of Dutch Coach Elcho Schattorrie as United pulled a convincing 2-0 win over the new boys Rangdajeid United. The first half saw few
chances for both sides as United game close to scoring getting two back to back chances only to be saved by a heroic goal-line save by the Rangdajeid keeper but there was little openings for both teams. Rangdajeid left winger Japanese Isawaki made some good run down the left flank and showed some neat football but failed to link up well with Edmar or Sandesh Gadkari upfront.Eugenson Lyngdoh was impressive making some tearing run down the right and middle but they failed to create any fruitful openings as the United backline did a good zonal marking in the area to deny Edmar and Gadkari any free space to score.
On the other hand Ranty martins looked a bit off color in the first half and so did Eric Brown as they seemed a still a pair under construction and needs more understanding time for build up play between them.
But the second half saw a transformed United side as Elcho brought the most vital change of the match bringing in Rafiq in place of Vinneth. The move was a tactical masterstroke as Rafiq did a brilliant link up job between Lalkamal in the midfield to Ranty-Eric upfront. This substitution saw United getting more on the ball in the middle and creating more chances as Ranty and Eric were fed with more passes coming from their own half through excellent buildup play.United scored the first goal through a briliant set piece movement from a frekick outside box,Ranty made no mistake heading in a second ball coming of a rebound to put United 1-0 up on 64'.
The second ball was a brilliant counter attack move as Eric Brown picked up the ball on the left side and moved in the box as two Rangdajied defenders tried to scramble back and hold off Eric, but Eric managed to pull a brilliant left footed pile driver beating the keeper into the far post.
The Rangdajaied team looked battered as United closed the game and last 20' it was all United playing string of passes between themselves and not risking any attacking moves as they sat pretty on a two goal cushions, there were a few odd chances in the last 10-15 minuts of the game but United SC looked content with a 2-0 win and bag all three points on their opening game.Good win for United as they will look to go on from strength to strength with the big city rivals as the league progresses.
UNITED SC   2-0   RANGDAJEID UNITED
(Ranty Martins-64';Eric Brown 71')
