The inaugural edition of AFC U-20 FUTSAL CHAMPIONSHIP got underway in Thailand as Lebanon and Qatar locked horns in the opening day encounter at Bangkok Arena.Lebanon dominated the game most of the first half and with the virtue of an early goal went through the first half with a comfortable 2-0 margin and a second half goal helped Lebanon cruise to a 3-0 win as Qatar looked to gain momentum in second half but failed to get their passes going and Lebanon cruised home with all points in the bag.
In the second match of the day Hong Kong took on Myanmar and Myanmar opened the scoring in first half as they dominated the play with quick interchange and used the court well as Hong Kong looked to sit back and rely on mistakes from Myanmar attackers but Myanmar looked nicely composed in their shape as moved up and down the court and took control of the game from the start and looked better side.
In the second half, Hong Kong snared the attacking play of Myanmar and equalized early into the second half to make it 1-1.As the match looked to end in a draw in the dying minutes Hong Kong pressed forward and Myanmar conceded a free kick just outside the penalty area .Hong Kong made most of the free kick as they smashed home the winner in the dying minutes of the match snatching a win that looked unlikely in the opening stages of the game.
In the following game Iraq cruised to a comfortable 4-1 win over Bahrain and Afghanistan clashed with Brunei DS and Afghanistan started their onslaught early leading 4-1 at half time but completely annihilated Brunei in second for a mammoth win 14-1 margin.
Last game of the day saw home favorite Thailand taking on Malaysian side in front of a healthy crowd.It was end to end battle as both sides looked to gain control of the game.Thailand opened the scoring in first half from break to make it 1-0 at the break.In the second half Thailand turned up the tempo and made it 3-0 but Malaysia pulled couple of goals back and made it 3-2, sniffing a chance to equalize Malaysia went all attack with advance goalkeeper in last couple of minutes and ended up conceding 2 quick goals giving the hosts a comfortable 2-5 win.
