Toyota Thai League (T1) reduced to 16 teams

news

The Toyota Thai League (Thai League 1) has confirmed to push forward plans to reduce Thailand’s top tier from 18 to 16 teams in 2019, making a total of five clubs which will be relegated to the Thai League 2 in 2018.

Meanwhile, M-150 Championship (Thai League 2) will remain 18 teams as usual.
In 2017, Thai League rebranded its image as they revealed their Road map new logos, leagues’ names, and opened up the ASEAN player quota, as well as set the plans to trim the number of clubs in the top flight.
Following an annual pre-season workshop with Thai League 1 to Thai League 4 clubs managers today, the FA Thailand and Thai League have decided to follow the Roadmap and the team reduction plans.
In addition, Thai League 1 and Thai League 2 have also confirmed that next season will kick off on 9 February and finish on 7 October 2018.
The first leg of the season will play on 9 February to 20 May while the second leg will kick off on 9 June and finish on 7 October.
Transfer window has already been opened since 13 November last  year and the window will close on 5 February 2018 - four days before the start of upcoming season.
